Flint, MI – Kicking off a summer of outreach and community engagement, a city-wide mailer from the Flint Registry began over the weekend. The mailer includes a free Flint Registry reusable tote and encourages everyone to visit the Flint Registry table outside the MSU Building (200 E. First St. Flint, MI 48502 – across the parking lot from the Flint Farmers’ Market) every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM during June. As individuals either enroll, update contact information, or confirm enrollment at the Flint Registry table, they will instantly receive a free $10 gift card to the Flint Farmers’ Market.

Over 40,000 Flint Registry totes are being mailed to Flint residents. The totes are reusable, foldable, and made from recycled materials. A convenient and durable way to reduce the need for single-use plastic bags, the Flint Registry hopes that people use their totes and Flint Farmers’ Market gift cards to purchase fresh and healthy foods while supporting local vendors at the Flint Farmers’ Market.

In its fifth year of getting people connected, supported, and counted, the Flint Registry is preparing for a summer full of outreach and engagement to encourage even more people to sign up for the Flint Registry.

“Amazingly, almost 20,000 people have already enrolled in the Flint Registry,” said Flint Registry Director Dr. Nicole Jones. “Even though we have successfully improved public health with thousands of connections to health, nutrition, development, and lead elimination services, we look forward to connecting with even more people this summer.”

It is never too late to enroll in the Flint Registry. Eligible participants receive a $50 thank you check in the mail six to eight weeks after enrollment. To sign up or find more information – including the Flint Registry Inaugural Report, visit www.FlintRegistry.org or call 1-833-GO-FLINT.

About the Flint Registry

The Flint Registry is for anyone exposed to Flint water because they lived, worked, attended school, or regularly visited the City of Flint during April 2014-October 2015, including children born before August 1, 2016, that may have been exposed prenatally.

The Flint Registry is supported by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Environmental Health to Michigan State University College of Human Medicine’s Division of Public Health.
