Flint Teddy Bear Picnic Encourages Healthy Kids and Community

By October 10, 2023October 24th, 2023Article

Flint, MI – The 2nd Annual Flint Teddy Bear picnic was a fun, family-friendly September day in Mott Park. Families were able to learn about health-focused resources in the community.

The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Teddy Bear Picnic is a free community event created to help children understand the importance of health and wellbeing and provide a fun, safe environment to interact with doctors, health care providers, and first responders.

Children were encouraged to bring a favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal for a wellness check-up with physicians and students from MSU’s health colleges. Stuffed animals were also available for children thanks to generous donations from Michigan State University’s Charles Stewart Mott Department of Public Health.

The Flint Registry would like to thank U-Haul of Flint, Rich’s Greenhouse, Eichelberg Farm, Pat at Winterfresh Farm, Chad Schlosser, and The Mott Park Neighborhood Association for supporting the Teddy Bear Picnic this year.

Special thanks to all who donated time, effort, and donated stuffed animals as well as Heather and Brent Marko, Mott Park residents, for creating the Teddy Bear ambulance to get kids and stuffed animals to their “clinic appointments.”

The 2023 event was on Saturday, September 9th, at Mott Park. There are upcoming dates in other MSU Campus communities. Check this website for more information and more updates on the Flint Teddy Bear Picnic in 2024:
