Flint Registry staff at Flint ReCAST’s S.T.R.O.N.G. Summit on June 3
Summer is an important time for the Flint Registry to connect directly with community members, and June provided several opportunities to do just that. Through conversations and outreach events, Registry staff met with families, shared information about available resources, and continued its mission of building relationships with the people and community we serve.
Our June outreach began at the S.T.R.O.N.G. Summit Family Fun Day on June 3, held at the Flint Farmer’s Market, where youth, families, and community partners gathered to celebrate the completion of Flint ReCAST’s workshop series. The Flint Registry team had the opportunity to connect with attendees, answer questions about the Registry, and share information about resources available to Flint residents and families. We continued those conversations at the Genesee County Resource Fair on June 10, where community members were invited to explore services and programs offered by organizations from across the county.

On June 13, the Registry team joined community members at Mott Fest for an afternoon of fun, creativity, and connection. Staff hosted a tie-dye activity that welcomed participants of all ages. While the colorful shirts were a highlight of the day, the conversations and new connections made throughout the event were just as memorable.
“Mott Fest has set the bar for a family friendly summer festival that is welcoming to Flint families from all across our city,” said Lisa Pasbjerg, Nutrition Team Outreach & Event Coordinator with MSU-Hurley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative (PPHI). “It is a truly community organized and supported local festival, placed in the beautiful setting of Mott Park Recreation Area, and is uniquely Flint in its focus on families, local musicians, artists and our educational institutions.”
Community engagement is at the heart of the Flint Registry’s work. These interactions help us better understand community needs and we are grateful for every opportunity to meet people where they are.

“Mott Fest, now in its fifth year, is one of Flint’s finest family-oriented grassroots festivals. Mott Fest is hyper-local in nature, featuring music, food, and vendors from the city, and many from right here in the Mott Park neighborhood,” said Chad Schlosser, member of the Mott Park Neighborhood Association and a Mott Fest organizer. “New additions this year included a captivating dance performance by Fli-City Studios and horseback riding thanks to Eddieon King. All activities for kids were free and we even gave away 200 meals to children, thanks to our generous sponsors and partners.”
