The Flint Registry is hosting a Mental Health Summit on Thursday, August 3rd at 11:00am. Participants can join via Zoom or livestream on Flint Registry’s Facebook page.
The American Public Health Association (APHA) defines mental health as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.”
Mental health is important at all stages of life. From youth through adulthood, there are resources, services, and practices to know and incorporate for individuals, families, and communities. According to mentalhealth.gov, “Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act, and helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.”
Flint residents face disproportionately higher rates of mental health issues. A recent study finds that Flint residents are twice as likely to suffer from major depression than the general population and more than twice as likely to have PTSD than veterans after deployment (TIME, 2022).
Join the Flint Registry and community partners on Thursday, August 3rd for an online summit with experts and panelists discussing information and resources about mental health.
